ABOUT JEWISH SERVICES

FRIDAY NIGHT, 9/4

7:30pm
SHABBAT SERVICES & ONEG DESSERTS

Congregation Beth Torah

The Friday night service is only about 1 hour long.  Sandra's father will be leading the service along with Rachel so it will be a very special evening for our family.  We will be serving desserts and refreshments at the synagogue immediately following the service.

*If you are a non-Jew and already have a full schedule that weekend, we completely understand if you are unable to join us Friday evening.

SATURDAY MORNING, 9/5

9:30am
SHABBAT SERVICES & KIDDUSH LUNCHEON
Congregation Beth Torah

The Saturday morning Shabbat Service is about 3 hours long.  This is Rachel's BIG MOMENT and one that you should not miss!

The Saturday morning Service is split into 3 main sections:
Shacharit Service - 9:30am
Torah Service - about 10:00am
Musaf Service

The most important part of the Bat Mitzvah takes place during the Torah Service, so as long as you arrive before then you will be fine.

It is in the Torah Service that Rachel will read from Torah, sing her Haftorah and deliver her Bat Mitzvah Speech.  You will also get to see a speech from her parents (tears!) and the presentation of her tallit.  At the end of her Haftorah we all throw candy at her (fun!) and sing joyously as that is the moment she has officially become a Bat Mitzvah!

After the conclusion of the Torah Service, we sing a few more prayers.  The entire service generally concludes around 12:30pm.  At this time the family will serve a beautiful luncheon for all guests at the synagogue.
